欢迎参加将于2019年12月15日至19日在美国夏威夷威科洛亚举行的第八届生物材料组织力学国际会议。

第八届生物材料和组织力学国际会议每两年举办一次,为来自不同学科的研究人员和实践工程师提供了一个独特的国际论坛,让他们相互交流和交流最新成果。

机械概念对于生命系统至关重要,因为它们具有稳定性,灵活性,运动性和生存性。在进化过程中,确定了有助于生物体实现这些各种功能的材料。从中,材料科学家从他们自己的工程解决方案中汲取了特别的灵感。同样,人类一直在寻求新的物质观念,以帮助他们克服健康方面的限制。

Talk Title: Biomechanics of Epithelial Morphogenesis: From Molecular Mechanofeedback to Tissue Deformation

Taiji Adachi PhD is Professor at the Department of Biosystems Science, Institute for Frontier Life and Medical Sciences, Kyoto University. 


Eduard Arzt

Leibniz Institute for New Materials and Saarland University, Germany

Talk Title: Biomimetics and scaling - from bioinspiration to application 

Eduard Arzt is Scientific Director of INM – Leibniz Institute for New Materials in Saarbrücken, one of the leading German materials research laboratories. 


Hao Bai

Zhejiang University, China

Talk Title: Bioinspired smart materials with multiscale architecture and multifunctionality. 

Dr. Hao Bai is currently a professor at College of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Zhejiang University. He received his B.S. degree from Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University (2006), and his Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry from National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Lei Jiang (2012). 


Anja Geitmann

McGill University, Canada

Talk Title: Wavy cell shape design protects the plant leaf epidermis from tear damage 

Dr. Geitmann holds the Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Biomechanics of Plant Development at McGill University, Montreal. She obtained her PhD in Environmental Biology in 1997 from the University of Siena (Italy), following undergraduate and graduate studies in biology at the University of Constance (Germany), Oregon State University (USA), and Stockholm University (Sweden). 


Pupa Gilbert

University of Wisconsin, USA

Talk title: The hidden structure of mouse and human enamel 

Pupa Gilbert got her doctoral degree in Physics in 1987 in Rome, Italy. She was a staff scientist at the Italian CNR and the Swiss EPFL before coming to the US as a full professor of physics at UW-Madison in 1999. 


Jeff Karp

Harvard Medical School, USA

Talk Title: Tools for Accelerated Medical Innovation 

Dr. Jeff Karp is a Professor of Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He has published over 125 peer-reviewed papers, with >18,000 citations, and has given over 300 invited lectures. He has over 100 issued or pending patents.

Talk Title: Biomimetics and scaling - from bioinspiration to application 


David Taylor

Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin

Talk Title: Multiscale Toughening in Natural Materials Analysed Using the Theory of Critical Distances 

David Taylor is a member of the Royal Irish Academy and a fellow of both the Royal Academy of Medicine in Ireland and the Institute of Engineers of Ireland. He holds the position of Professor of Materials Engineering at Trinity College Dublin. 


Swee-Hin Teoh

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

Talk Title: Fracture and wear resistant biomaterials via hierarchical microstructural design using electromagnetic field 

Professor Swee-Hin Teoh, President’s Chair School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, is known for the clinical translation of 3D printed bioresorbable scaffolds for bone tissue engineering. 


Viola Vogel

ETH Zürich, Switzerland

Talk Title: Mechanobiology: from single cells to tissues

Viola Vogel is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Science and Technology heading the Laboratory of Applied Mechanobiology at the ETH Zürich, Switzerland. Trained as a Physicist at Frankfurt University and after completing her graduate research at the Max-Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, she spent two years as postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Physics at the University of California Berkeley. 


Haimin Yao

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong

Talk Title: Structure matters in natural biomaterials

Dr. Haimin Yao is an Associate Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.  He received his BEng and MEng degrees from Tsinghua University, China in 2000 and 2002 respectively, and Doctor degree from Universität Stuttgart, Germany in 2006. From 2007 to 2009. 


Amir A. Zadpoor

Delft University of Technology (TUDelft), The Netherlands

Talk Title: Meta-biomaterials: from geometrical design to unprecedented clinical performance 

Amir Zadpoor is Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Distinguished Professor, the Chaired Professor of Biomaterials & Tissue Biomechanics, and the founding director of the Additive Manufacturing Laboratory at Delft University of Technology. 


Pablo D. Zavattieri

Purdue University, USA

Pablo Zavattieri is currently a Professor of Civil Engineering and a University Faculty Scholar at Purdue University. Zavattieri received his BS/MS degrees in Nuclear Engineering from the Balseiro Institute (Argentina) and PhD in Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering from Purdue University. 


Hala Zreiqat AM, FIOR

The University of Sydney, Australia

Talk Title: Innovative materials and bioengineering of musculoskeletal tissues 

Hala Zreiqat is a professor of biomedical engineering at the University of Sydney and both a National Health and Medical Research Council Senior Research Fellow (2006-2020); Director of the Australian Research Training Centre for Innovative Bio-Engineering; Co-Director of the Shanghai-Sydney Joint Bioengineering and Regenerative Medicine Lab at Shanghai JiaoTong; Honorary Professor Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Adjunct Professor Drexel University.
