The Fifteenth International Conference on Rapidly Quenched and Metastable Materials (RQ15)

The Fifteenth International Conference on Rapidly Quenched and Metastable Materials (RQ15) will be held 24-28 August, 2014 in Shanghai, China. RQ15 is the fifteenth conference of a long series of RQ conferences held over more than 40 years since early 1970s. Without any doubt, we can say that the RQ conference series is one of the most important conference series on scientific research and technological development related to rapidly quenched (and rapidly solidified) metals and alloys and other metastable metallic materials.
At RQ conferences, researchers showcase the most recent research findings and exciting technological developments and discussing the understanding (and also puzzling thinking) in the field covering metastable materials such as metallic glasses through rapid solidification, “not-so rapid” solidification, mechanical alloying, thin film fabrication, electrolytic plating, powder consolidation etc.
At RQ15, we may also see the application of research on rapid solidification of metals and alloys to rapid additive manufacturing of metallic components with complex shapes.
