Welcome to the website of the 23rd International Diatom Symposium (IDS). IDS 2014 will be hosted in Nanjing by the Nanjing Institute of Geography & Limnology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, on behalf of the International Society for diatom Research. Diatom has long been recognized for their important contribution to global primary producers and their use as powerful and reliable environmental indicators, as evidenced by their ever-increasing application in applied studies and associated publications. The IDS2014 will take this opportunity to bring together diatom researchers from various backgrounds and provide the basis for stimulating discussion, exchange and networking on the ecology, taxonomy, physiology and molecular biology of diatoms, as well as establishing mutual understanding of the diverse range of contemporary diatom research.
